วัดอัมพวันเจติยาราม เป็นพระอารามหลวงชั้นโท ตั้งอยู่ปากคลองอัมพวาด้านเหนือ เดิมเรียกกันว่า "วัดอัมพวา" ต่อมาพระบาทสมเด็จพระนั่งเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว ได้พระราชทานนามใหม่ว่า "วัดอัมพวันเจติยาราม" มีความหมายว่า "วัดที่มีเจดีย์และมีสวนมะม่วงเป็นที่รื่นรมย์และเกษมสำราญน่าเคารพบูชา" วัดนี้เป็นวัดต้นวงศ์ราชินิกุล โดยสมเด็จพระรูปศิริโสภาคย์มหานาคนารี (สั้น) พระชนนีในสมเด็จพระอัมรินทรามาตย์ (นาก) ทรงบริจาคที่ดินและสมเด็จพระอัมรินทรามาตย์ได้ทรงรวบรวมพระพี่พระน้องรว่มกันสร้างเป็นวัดขึ้นมา ในรัชสมัยพระบาทสมเด็จพระนั่งเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัวทรงโปรดเกล้าฯ ให้มีการบูรณะใหญ่และทรงสร้างพระปรางค์ เป็นที่บรรจุพระบรมสรีรังคารและพระบรมอัฐิบางส่วนของพระบาทสมเด็จพระพุทธเลิศหล้านภาลัย พระบรมราชชนก นอกจากนี้ยังทรงสร้างพระวิหารและพระที่นั่งทรงธรรมขึ้นอีกด้วย
