Description XJR2F-1 NATC NAN1-50.jpg | The second Grumman XJR2F-1 Albatross prototype (BuNo 82854) beaching after a trials fight. Cdr. H.E. McNeely, Head of Patrol Section of the U.S. Naval Air Test Center at NAS Patuxent River, Maryland (USA), was at the controls during this flight. The XJR2F-1 first flew on 24 October 1947. It was redesignated UF-1 before production started and finally became the HU-16 in the tri-service scheme of 1962. |
