Der charakteristische Universitätsbau der späten Gründerzeit wurde ab 1894 nach Plänen von Alois Koch errichtet und am 5. Dezember 1896 feierlich eröffnet. 1960 erfolgte die Benennung des Hauptgebäudes nach Gregor Mendel , gleichzeitig wurde das Chemiegebäude (axial in die Mitte des nach rückwärts offenen Hofs des Gregor-Mendel-Hauses positioniert und im Jahr 1978 mit den Flügeltrakten des Gregor-Mendel-Hauses verbunden) in Justus von Liebig -Haus umbenannt. |
