Description White Abbey farm, Alberbury - geograph.org.uk - 463773.jpg |
English:
White Abbey farm, Alberbury A priory here was probably built by baron Fulk Fitz Warine III around 1225 AD for "remission of his sins" - see
http://www.castlewales.com/alberbury.html
In the middles ages it was known as 'New Abbey' or 'Black Abbey' (after the monks habits). In more recent times it is known as 'White Abbey' due to the colour of the stone and is now a farm. According to a channel 4 website, there is a holy relic buried here, possibly with the baron and his wife, see
