English: CHUK SAMET, Thailand (May 16, 2007) – Commander, Task Force 76 Rear Adm. Carol M. Pottenger salutes Royal Thai Army Gen. Kemarat Kanchanawat, Royal Thai Armed Forces Deputy Chief of the Joint Staff, with Lt. Gen. John F. Goodman, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Pacific, looking on. Top leaders of Thailand, Singapore and the United States joined together for capabilities tours aboard high-speed vessel MV Westpac Express (HSV 4676) and mine warfare ship USS Guardian (MCM 5). They also observed a Royal Thai Navy-Marine Corps non-combatant evacuation as part of Cobra Gold 2007. Cobra Gold is an annual multinational joint training exercise aimed at developing interoperability, strengthening relationships between services and developing cross-cultural understanding among participating nations.
