Arlington, Va. (Oct. 30, 2003) -- Adm. Vern Clark, Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) applauds Cmdr. Kevin J. Kovacich, former Commanding Officer of Fighter Squadron Two One One (VF-211) after presenting him with the Vice Adm. James Bond Stockdale Award. The unique award is given to two recipients annually who represent the Pacific and Atlantic Fleet for recognizing commanding officers who symbolize the highest standards of excellence from personal example to leadership. Cmdr. Kovacich's counterpart recipient is Capt. Charles M. Gauette, Commanding Officer of USS Fletcher (DD 992) who is not present because he is forward deployed fighting the war on terrorism.
