Summary

Description
English: The U.S. Navy destroyer USS Barker (DD-213) on 21 July 1942 in Nukualofa Harbour, Tongatabu. The attack transport USS President Jackson (AP-37) and an oiler are visible in the background. The photo was taken from the aircraft carrier USS Wasp (CV-7).
Note: According to Barker ´s deck log she arrived in Nukualofa Harbour at 0806 hrs, 21 July and moored alongside the oiler USS Kanawha (AO-1) to refuel. At 1124 hrs she got underway and left the harbour, on her way to Pearl Harbor. The date given, 4 August 1942 (also on the other photos of the series) is obviously wrong as President Jackson was on her way to Guadalcanal on that date.
