Description
English: USS Aquarius (AKA-16) in the Russell Islands, alongside a floating, demountable dock. Aquarius was a U.S. Coast Guard-manned assault transport and unloaded U.S. Marines transferred from New Britain to the Russell Islands for a rest period. Aquarius had carried elements of the U.S. Army's 40th Division to Cape Gloucester, New Britain, and returned the 1st Marine Division to the Russell Islands between 20 April and 28 April 1944. USS Titania (AKA-13) is next to Aquarius .
