The lakeside garden, also known as the Parco Meier, was designed by the locally born architect
Pietro Lingeri
(1894–1968) as part of the project of reconstructing the eighteenth-century
Villa Hortensia
(owned by Roberto Meier) following a 1919 fire. For the gardens in the Italian manner he made reference, in a rococò key, to those of the
Villa Colonna
