Summary
Description The Spanish Steps, Rome (47509253002).jpg |
This famous place came into use in 1725 and was paid for by a French diplomat. They linked the Spanish embassy with the Trinità dei Monti church. In the foreground of my picture is the Fontana della Barcaccia ("Fountain of the longboat") which was built in 1627–29. More recently the steps have featured in films such as Roman Holiday (1953) and the Talented Mr Ripley (1999). |
