The James Buchan Brown Memorial in Selkirk An eminent 19th century poet and essayist, Brown was born,in 1832 the son of a wealthy mill owner in Galashiels and was educated in Selkirk and Edinburgh. He died on Christmas day 1904. His best known works were 'Poems' in 1869 and the 'Thoughts and Musings of J.B. Selkirk' which was published posthumously in 1812. He became forever known as J.B. Selkirk
