Tropical Cyclone Gerry was moving in the southern Indian Ocean east of Madagascar on Feb. 13, 2003. This true-color image of the storm was captured by the MODIS instrument on NASA's Terra satellite at 0625 UTC. Gerry was a powerful storm, with maximum sustained winds of 90 knots (10-minute average) and a minimum central pressure of 940 mb. This image was cropped from a much larger image. Please note that the high-resolution scene provided here is 500 meters per pixel. |
