Description AWM caption: "1941-08-01. STARBOARD SIDE VIEW OF THE CRUISER HMAS SYDNEY (II) (EX HMS PHAETON) WITH HER AIRCRAFT EMBARKED. NOTE THE SPAR PROJECTING FORWARD OF THE BRIDGE AND THE SINGLE 4 INCH AA GUNS AMIDSHIPS, WHICH DISTINGUISHED THE SYDNEY FROM HER TWO SISTERS HOBART AND PERTH NOTE THE CAMOUFLAGE SCHEME, THE COLOURS OF WHICH ARE PROBABLY 507A (THE DARKER GREY) AND 507C. IT IS ALMOST IDENTICAL ON THE PORT SIDE."
