Description Stöng Viking Longhouse.jpg |
English:
A photograph of Þjóðveldisbærinn in Iceland, a reconstruction of the Viking Longhouse Stöng. The building would have been the center of the farm of a Viking chief in middle ages and would have been used to store food. This replica adheres as closely as possible to the original way of building these longhouses, with a basic wood frame, stone base and turf walls/roof.
