English:
One of the extended titles of the first Jebtsundamba Khutuktu of Mongolia, "Öndör Gegeen Zanabazar". At an early age he was bestowed the title of "Öndör Gegeen" (meaning "High Saint") by the Khalkha Mongol nobility. Later while studying under the Great Fifth Dalai Lama, he was given the title "Jñānavajra" (meaning "Diamond-Thunderbolt of Wisdom"), the Sanskrit version of his birth name "Eshidorj". In Tibetan transliteration of Sanskrit a letter "Za" is used for the "Ja" consonant in Sanskrit, and a "Ba" is similarly used for the "Va" consonant - hence why Jñānavajra/Janavajra became often pronounced as "Zanabazar".
