The text reads, “Sieg und Ruhm unsern Waffen” (German, meaning “Victory and glory [are] our weapons”), “Glückliches Neujahr” (German, meaning “Happy New Year”) and "LeShanah Tovah Tikatevu" ( traditional Hebrew greeting for Rosh Hashanah , meaning "For a good year may you be inscribed [in the book of life]"
