Summary
Description Seattle - 1917 house on blocks.jpg |
House up on blocks, Seattle, Washington, 1917. According to Seattle historian David B. Williams ([ https://geologywriter.com/tag/jackson-street-regrade/ in his blog), this was during the Jackson Street Regrade . This building stood (and, as of 2023, still stands) at the northwest corner of South Jackson Street and Maynard Avenue South. This was not originally a house: Williams calls it a "Japanese Church" but does not indicate a denomination. With two new stories under it, it became the Havana Hotel, then in 1984 was renovated to its current (as of 2023) configuration of apartments in this portion and shops below. |
