Summary

Description
English: Scarcroft School York's principal architect for schools at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries was W H Brierley, and Scarcroft School, built in 1896 is often considered to be his finest work. The building looks symmetrical with a central block containing halls and classrooms marked out by 4 corner towers and the whole lot topped by a rather fanciful clock tower and cupola. Probably not as practical as a modern school building.
