Description In 1904 the first structure built to house the Santa Monica Public Library opened at 503 Santa Monica Boulevard in Santa Monica, California. Carnegie Funds were used to finance the construction. The building was significantly expanded and altered in 1927, after this photograph was taken. It was razed in 1974.
