Description
English: A U.S. Navy Lockheed S-3A Viking (BuNo 159769) of Anti-Submarine Squadron 31 (VS-31) "Topcats" in flight over the Mediterranean Sea on 21 May 1983. It has the ASQ-81 Magnetic Anomaly Detection (MAD) boom extended from the tail section. VS-31 was assigned to Carrier Air Wing 7 (CVW-7) aboard the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) for a deployment to the Mediterranean Sea from 27 April to 2 December 1983.
