Stema comunei Valea Mare se compune dintr-un scut triunghiular francez medieval triunghiular cu marginile rotunjite, tăiat.

În partea superioară, în câmpul de culoare albastră, se află două personaje nimbate şi înaripate, purtând vestimentaţie militară romană şi o mantie lungă, pe umeri; personajul din dreapta scutului ţine în mâna stângă întinsă în jos o balanţă, iar personajul din stânga scutului are în mâna dreaptă întinsă înainte o spadă cu vârful în sus şi în mâna stângă un scut, care îi acoperă 1/3 din tors.

În partea inferioară, în câmpul de culoare roşie, se află o cunună de spice de grâu de aur.

Scutul este timbrat de o coroană murală de argint cu un turn crenelat.

Semnificaţiile elementelor însumate

Cele două personaje nimbate şi înaripate îi reprezintă pe Sfinţii Mihail şi Gavril şi evocă biserica din localitate cu hramul Arhanghelilor Mihail şi Gavril, construită în anul 1793 - monument istoric.

Cununa de spice de grâu reprezintă activitatea specifică zonei, agricultura.

Coroana murală cu un turn crenelat semnifică faptul că localitatea are rangul de comună.
