Począwszy od roku 1982 Polskie Fiaty 125p były pozbawiane, ze względów oszczędnościowych i trudnej sytuacji gospodarczej wszelkich dodatków i ozdób. W roku 1983 Polskie Fiaty 125p utraciły licencję Fiata, a nazwę modelu zmieniono na FSO 125p
