La plaque d'immatriculation se lit de gauche à droite comme suit : logo de la CEMAC en bas duquel l'indicatif du pays (CMR pour Cameroun), ensuite deux lettres de l'alphabet symbolisant la région du pays où le véhicule est immatriculé (ici SU pour la région du sud), puis un numéro alphanumérique composé de trois chiffres et deux lettres de l'alphabet symbolisant la série, et enfin en haut à droite la puce. Les plaques valides au Cameroun sont sous fond orange et sont de la CEMAC, ce qui donne droit au véhicule de rouler dans tous les six pays de la sous-région CEMAC.
