From source site: PIERNEEF, JACOB HENDRIK (SA 1886 - 1957) Oil on board, Landscape - "Dar-es-Salaam", signed & inscribed with the title on the reverse, circa 1926 (60 x 98.5cm) Provenance: From the private collection of the late Thomas William Nicolaas Hitge, a former Judge President of the Transvaal & Mayor of Potchefstroom, as well as one of the founding members of the Pretoria law firm MacRobert, de Villiers & Hitge. According to the family Mr Hitge was a personal friend of the artist J H Pierneef, & he acquired the painting directly from the artist where it hung in the family home at 770 Government Avenue, Brynterion, Pretoria Est R300 000–R500 000 - SOLD FOR 1 000 000 - February 2006 |
