Description
English: BUILT IN 1730 AND ADDED TO IN 1760. PETER HOUSEMAN, A MILLWRIGHT, BOUGHT THIS HOUSE FROM THOMAS DONGAN, GREAT-NEPHEW OF THE COLONIAL NEW YORK GOVERNOR OF THE SAME NAME, AND EXPANDED THE STRUCTURE. HOUSEMAN WOULD LATER BE KILLED BY ROBBERS THERE IN 1784, AND HIS SON JOHN, A RICHMOND COUNTY SUPERVISOR AND ASSEMBLYMAN, WOULD TAKE OVER THE ESTATE
