Description Old town hisar kapia.jpg |
English:
The eastern gate of three hills, Hissar Kapiya, built in the 11th-13th centuries. It is the entrance to the core of the Ancient Plovdiv Historical and Architectural Reserve.
The bas-relief portrait on the wall is Tsanko Lavrenov, a great painter - one of the biggest names in Bulgarian art history and culture. He was from Plovdiv and has contributed much to the artistic legacy of the city. He campaigned for the preservation of the Old Town as an architectural and cultural reserve.
