|

Description |
Haldane was one of the most colourful figures in 20th century genetics and was renouned as much for his political as by his scientific opinions - He introduced many to the fascination of science through his popular columns in the Daily Worker, among others - he became a Communist in the 1940's and never entirely repudiated the claims of Trofim Lysenko to have developed Lamarckian methods of plant breeding to which this cartoon refers. The cartoon, by Low, was sent to him by Professor Haddow of the Chester Beatty Cancer Research Institute in 1965. Digitised for CODEBREAKERS, MAKERS OF MODERN GENETICS Archives & Manuscripts |
