ITALIANATE-STYLE MANOR HOUSE WAS BUILT IN 1857 FOR RICHARD HENRY DULANY, A PROMINENT CITIZEN AND FOUNDER OF THE UPPERVILLE COLT AND HORSE SHOW, WHICH HELD THE FIRST RECORDED HORSE SHOW IN AMERICA IN 1852. DURING THE CIVIL WAR, CONFEDERATE TROOPS WERE QUARTERED AT OAKLEY, AND AT TIMES UNION OFFICERS OCCUPIED THE PROPERTY. THE PROPERTY STILL CONTINUES AS A FOCUS FOR THE REGION’S HUNT COUNTRY LIFESTYLE.
