Summary
Description Muggins Mountain Wilderness (9415954266).jpg |
The 7,711-acre Muggins Mountain Wilderness is located approximately 25 miles east of Yuma, Arizona in Yuma County. The wilderness includes a cluster of rugged peaks at the western end of the Muggins Mountains, the most prominent being Muggins Peak, Klothos Temple, and Long Mountain. Twin Tanks Wash, Long Mountain Wash, Morgan Wash, and other deeply cut drainages dissect the peaks. The rugged landform and colorful geologic strata of the Muggins Mountains are considered exceptionally scenic for the region. Recreation such as backpacking, day hiking, sightseeing, photography, and rock climbing are enhanced by the topography and scenic character, as well as botanical, wildlife, and cultural values.
