Summary
Description Memorial to Sir John de Graeme - geograph.org.uk - 1578712.jpg |
English:
Memorial to Sir John de Graeme The Drinking fountain erected in 1912 at the traditional spot marking the death of Sir John de Graeme, senior aide to Sir William Wallace at the Battle of Falkirk in July 1298. This marked the end of the active part of Wallace's rebellion. The exact site of the battle is still uncertain and there is a further 2008 memorial nearby in NS8979. Sir John's tomb can be seen in the graveyard in the centre of town at Falkirk Old and St Modan's church.
