Maiolica sugar castor, height= cm 19.5, maximum width= cm 9.5, probably produced in Lodi, Italy, Giorgio Giacinto Rossetti factory, 1729-36, gran fuoco firing (underglaze decoration), no factory mark.
Hexagonal symmetry, decorated in blue with stylised leaf, floral and geometric patters in the Rouen style. Under the base, there is a sketch of a feminine character, in the manner of Rossetti. Under the base there is also a hole for filling it with sugar. The above information and the attribution to the Rossetti factory are taken from Felice Ferrari, La ceramica di Lodi, Azzano San Paolo, Bolis Edizioni, 2003, page 189, where a picture of this sugar castor is published. Spargizucchero in maiolica, altezza cm 19,5, larghezza massima cm 9,5, probabilmente fabbricato a Lodi, nella fabbrica di Giorgio Giacinto Rossetti, periodo 1729-1736, cottura a gran fuoco, marca assente.
Simmetria esagonale, decorato in blu con motivi geometrico floreali a foglie e fiori stilizzati, nello stile detto di Rouen. Sotto la base, c’è una bozza di una figura femminile nello stile di Rossetti. Sotto la base c’è anche un foro per il rifornimento di zucchero.
