Description
English: l'Intrépide is the oldest aircraft preserved in Europe. Built in Meudon, Paris, France, this hydrogen-filled observation balloon was used by the First Balloon Company, it was captured on 3 September 1796 by Austrian troops. It is on display in the Austrian Military Museum, Vienna. The original envelope fabric is preserved in the glass case on the left.
