This juvenile flammulated owl (
Psiloscops flammeolus
) was found by firefighters in the hallow of a tree that had been struck by lightning and caught fire. Before they cut down the tree, they moved the young owl to a nearby tree. Photo taken July 23, 2010. Credit: USDA Forest Service, Coconino National Forest.
