Summary

Description An instrument maker Hildebrand was commissioned by JS Bach to build a keyboard lute (Lautenwerk) of Bach's design. He subsequently wrote 3 compositions believed to be for that instrument: S996, S997 and S998. The instrument on this recording (built by A. Goldstein) is believed to be the first keyboard lute after 200 years. It was built in 1978.
