Summary
Description Heptazine core resonance B.png |
English:
Averaged bonding pattern of the 18 zwitterionic forms in the resonance of heptazine (tri-s-triazine). Those are forms III to XX according to Pauling and Sturdivant (1937). Those can be repeatedly combined in pairs that are equivalent through mirroring, or triplets that are equivalent through rotation, and hence could be assumed to be equally likely, until only this averaged form remains. The dashed lines represent 1/2 of a covalent bond, and the dotted lines are 1/3 of a bond.
