"Hampstead Tube (Charing Cross Euston & Hampstead Railway) Hampstead - Highgate Charing Cross". Advert map issued by the Underground Electric Railways Company of London (UERL) following the opening of the the Charing Cross Euston & Hampstead Railway (CCE&HR, now the Northern line ) on 22 June 1907. The map shows the lines operated by the UERL: the CCE&HR, the Great Northern, Piccadilly and Brompton Railway (GNP&BR, now the Piccadilly line ), the Baker Street and Waterloo Railway (B&SWR, now the Bakerloo line ) and the central section of the District Railway (now the District line ). The Aldwych branch of the GNP&BR and the extension of the BS&WR from Edgware Road to Paddington were under construction or approved for construction and are shown as dashed lines. The Aldwych branch opened on 30 November 1907, Paddington extension opened on 1 December 1913. Other Underground lines ( Central London Railway , City and South London Railway , Metropolitan Railway ) are also shown. |
