English: The Senate Armed Services Committee held a confirmation hearing on the nomination of General David Petraeus to be commander, International Security Assistance Force and, commander, U.S. Forces Afghanistan. Among the issues he addressed were the eventual withdrawal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan, the readiness of Afghan security forces, the current security threat in the region, and the effectiveness of counterinsurgency strategy. He also said that he would review rules of engagement and the manner in which the rules were implemented.
