Summary
Description Fresco depicting the execution of Bhai Dayala and Bhai Mati Das before Guru Tegh Bahadur from Gurdwara Baba Bakala.jpg |
English:
Fresco depicting the execution of Bhai Dayala and Bhai Mati Das before Guru Tegh Bahadur from Gurdwara Baba Bakala.
Translation of the inscriptions (kindly translated through the efforts of Reddit user u/ForgottenPhoenix ): The translation goes clockwise from the cauldron. The person sitting in the cauldron is labelled Bhai Dayala Ji. Rest go clockwise: • Mughal (guy in green shirt) • Bhai Gurdit Ji (guy in red shirt, blue turban - unsure of this one since its a bit hard to read) • Bhai Udai Ji (sitting next to the above. Hard to read as well so might be incorrect) • Guru Tegh Bahadar Ji (sitting on the chair/cot) • Bhai Jinda (or Jita) Ji (green overalls, holding peacock feathers) • Mughal • Guru Ji going to sach khand (procession at the top, see here for meaning of Sach Khand: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sach_Khand ) • Delhi platoon/brigade (group of soldiers in a queue in the middle) • Captain (platoon's captain, figure at the head of the platoon - hard to read but the context makes sense) • Mughal • Bhai Mati Das Ji (sitting figure with hands folded, two mughals using saw on his head) • Clothes (red and blue material next to cauldron) • Chandani Chowk Delhi (writing below the firewood) So looks like it is depicting the scene of martydrom of Guru Teg Bahadur. |
