Summary

Description
English: These two photos of flowers on the same Geranium incanum plant show a radical version of protandrous maturation. On emerging from the bud, the flower has both an androecium and an immature gynoecium , but after flowering for a day or so it physically sheds its stamens and lightens the colour of its petals, possibly as a signal to pollinators that its pistil is now receptive, though there is no more pollen.
