English: Edward Ochab (1906-1989) - Polish communist social activist and politician. From December 1948 he was a deputy member of the (communist) Polish United Workers' Party (PZPR) Politburo, and a full member from 1954. Between 20 March and 21 October 1956 first secretary of the party.
