Description
This black and white photocopy was taken of a drawing of the Erie and Kalamzaoo Railroad. Accompanying literature indicates the railroad between Adrian, Michigan and Toledo opened for business in the fall of 1836. The cars were first pulled by horses. The first steam locomotive hauled six cars from Adrian to Toledo on July 19, 1837. The passenger rate between the two towns was $1.50 with allowance of fifty pounds of baggage.
