Deutsch:
Wiesentheid ist seit 1682 Markt. Das Schloss war ursprünglich Castellscher Besitz und kam zusammen mit dem Ort über die Fuchs von Dornheim und die von Dernbach 1704 an die Grafen von Schönborn. Unter dessen Herrschaft erlebte der Ort eine große Blüte. Das ursprüngliche Gemeindewappen zeigt in Rot auf grünem Boden einen linkshin schreitenden, golden gekrönten goldenen Löwen, der von drei aus dem Boden wachsenden, beblätterten grünen Rohrstängeln überdeckt ist (siehe Abbildung in der Wappen-Galerie). Der goldene Löwe in rotem Feld ist dem gräflichen Wappen der Schönborn entnommen und erinnert an deren Herrschaft. Der genaue Zeitpunkt einer Wappenverleihung ist nicht überliefert, auch ältere Siegel sind nicht belegt. Am Portal des 1741 errichteten Rathauses befindet sich das Ortswappen, ebenso in den Dienstsiegeln des frühen 19. Jahrhunderts sowie im Schrifttum seit 1898. In manchen Abbildungen fehlt die Krone des Löwen. Seit Mitte der 1970er-Jahre ist das hier gezeigte wappenähnliche Bild in Gebrauch; der Entwerfer ist unbekannt. Auf ihrer Internetseite erklärt die Marktgemeinde Wiesentheid den grünen Boden (=Wiese) und die Heidekrautstängel als redend für den Ortsnamen. Dieser wird allerdings bei Reitzenstein aus althochdeutsch heida = Heide und wisant = Wisent gedeutet als „Heide, wo sich Wisente aufhalten“. Die erste urkundliche Nennung als „Wisen-[t]heida“ geht auf das Jahr 918 (Kopie des 16. Jahrhunderts) zurück.
