Das rote Kreuz in Silber (sogenanntes “Trierer-Kreuz”) erinnert daran, dass die Gemeinde Köwerich vom Mittelalter bis in die napoleonische Zeit zum Besitz des Erzbistums und späteren Kurfürstentums Trier gehörte.
Der Violinenschlüssel weist darauf hin, dass die Vorfahren mütterlicherseits des großen Komponisten Ludwig van Beethoven aus Köwerich stammten. Die grüne Weintraube steht als Symbol für Köwerich als Weinort. |
