Summary
Description Counter bakelite 1930s 02.jpg | Green and pink bakelite knitting row counters of the 1930s. The counter registers 1-16 rows. The gadget also incorporates a pattern bookmark, a needle gauge for UK sizes 1-14 and a 6-inch rule. The front (as pictured) is labelled "inches", "gauge" and "no. of rows". The back says "Regd. design - pat applied for - made in England." As of 2010, the book mark spring on the green example was still springy and fully functional. The counter disc had lost friction, and could not be relied upon to maintain the number count if moved or stored. The book mark spring on the pink example was broken, but the row counter was still fully functional, with sufficient friction to maintain the count. |
