Summary
Description Continental Airlines DC-9-32; N525NY, October 1987 CKA (5126664193).jpg |
A DC-9 in the transitional Continental's New York Air-livery... The DC-9-32 (c/n 47531/ 638) took its first flight on August 20, 1970. The plane's first operator was Austrian Airlines (flying as OE-LDE, named 'Oberösterreich', between 1970 and 1982). In 1982, the California-built jet was taken into Spantax fleet, as EC-DQQ. In 1983, the twin-engined jet settled for the Americas and joined New York Air (first as N525TX, than N525NY). After Continental took over New York Air in 1987 the DC-9 flew for CO for two years before being leased out to Eastern Airlines in December 1989 where the N525NY stayed until the bitter end - until EA's demise in January 1991. The DC-9 rejoined Continental early 1991 and was re-registered as N15525. In 2000, the jet was sold to Congo, to operator Wetrafa Airlift (as 9Q-CWF). The plane was written off at Brazzaville-Maya Maya Airport (BZV), Congo, on April 18, 2003. |
