Summary
Description Château de Fontainebleau-Cour ovale-Porte du Baptistère-20170916.jpg |
The Baptistery Gate was built in 1565 by the Primatice. On the courtyard side, we can see, two angels blowing on the trumpets of fame around two shields bearing the arms of Henry IV: the lilies of France joined to the chains of Navarre. Two busts (copies of antiques) decorate the niches of the interior facade. An antique theater mask adorns the keystone. |
