Source Major General Charles F. Thompson pins second lieutenant's bars on First Sergeant Hubert Odom's uniform following Odom's promotion to second lieutenant. Thompson was commander of the Military District of Washington. Odom was a member of the 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment and a recipient of the Distinguished Service Cross.
