Überdimensionierte Körperlichkeit und Länge bestimmt die Figur des Kardinals im Vergleich zu den Kopfmaßen - ein typischer Malstil seiner Zeit. Wichtig erscheint ihm hauptsächlich die Stofflichkeit der Robe zu sein, die den Dargestellten als Mächtigen der Kirche definiert.
Hier gewährt man dem Betrachten Einblick in eine Gartenszene, vermutlich handelt es sich um das Schloss Rueil bei Paris, wo der Kardinal lebte.
