(photograph of a herbarium specimen taken through a dissecting microscope (x40) showing orange apothecia) Growing on rock outcrop in full sunlight in open field at Soldiers Delight Natural Environment Area, Owings Mills, Baltimore County, Maryland, USA; collected by Elmer G. Worthley, identified by Allen C. Skorepa (No. LH-21, 27 Jan 1979); specimen is now in the Lichen Herbarium of the New York Botanical Garden.
