Summary
Description Cadillac Place, Detroit (Grand Boulevard entrance looking upward) - 20201215.jpg |
English:
A December 2020 view looking upwards from in front of the majestic main entrance to Detroit's Cadillac Place on West Grand Boulevard between Cass and Second Avenues, in the New Center area of town. The classical detailing seen
around the entrance itself
continues as one casts his gaze upward: crowning the frieze above the entrance is a clock set within a circle of stone reliefs representing the twelve signs of the Zodiac, and flanked by sculpted figures of eagles as well as female figures holding a torch and a caduceus, respectively. Still more is found on the upper reaches of the building itself: engaged Corinthian columns separating the windows of the two uppermost floors, and a modillion cornice at the roofline.
